The SideReel Method

Over the passed couple months the SideReel method has to be one of the, if not the most common method to make money on the internet for newbies, intermediate and advanced webmasters alike. What people seem to like about this method is that anyone with the most basic of internet marketing skills…. setting up a wordpress blog that is…. can make easily make ten’s to hundred’s of dollars a day.

A few different ways to do the SideReel method have come up over the passed couple months but the main one is very simple.

1. Setup a wordpress blog.
2. Find a popular tv series.
3. Embed episodes of popular tv shows.
4. Add code from cpalead or alike gateway program.
5. Post the links on SideReel.
6. Watch the money pile up while you do nothing.

Even from those most basic steps any one with half a brain could go off and research stuff like popular tv shows, where to get episodes from, etc etc. But why bother lol? I am going to tell you the who, what, when, where, why, and how.

1. Setup A Wordpress Blog

As I said earlier this is pretty much the only skill you need to be able to make money from SideReel and well… it’s extremely simple. Firstly you will need a decent web host. You do not need extreme amounts of disk space for these types of website. I work around a simple guide… about 200mb space and 10gig a month bandwidth per site. This is more than what you will need but the price that some hosting providers charge for over usage it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I highly recommend a host that has cpanel and an addon called Fantastico Deluxe. This addon makes wordpress blog setup super easy. Takes less than a minute to setup a blog.

I advise that you make a simple custom header in photoshop to make the site look more attractive… or you can just find a template that doesn’t use a header image. This is a sneaky way but you can make a site look very attractive with just a decent title name.

2. Embed TV Show Episodes

There are a number of sites you can find episodes of favorite television shows for you to embed into your website. There are 3 that I see used the most. I will outline 2 here for everyone to see. To see the third you will need to sign up to become a free member.

The first is www.MegaVideo.com. This is very highly used and has a good streaming speed so it’s usually a top pick by episode embedders. The bad thing is that the episodes on Megavideo tend to be deleted within a week if not a few days. There are some that last longer but they usually don’t last very long. I don’t use megavideo at all but many others do.

The second is www.Youku.com. I have seen pretty slow speeds but the videos last longer on youku than they do on Megavideo. I can find most the series I am looking for on this site.

The third one is members only. I always use this site where possible because these videos NEVER get deleted. There is a limited selection to the series on this site though but the videos don’t get deleted. This site is the number 1 pick in my books if it has the episodes I am looking for. When you use this site you don’t have to keep checking your embeds to make sure the video hasn’t been deleted. Oh and did I mention the videos don’t get deleted?

Now this is the annoying part. Once you have found the episode you want you need to embed it into your website. If you are using megavideo you can embed the videos straight into your site. If you use Youku or the other one you will need to convert your embed code otherwise the video will show up infront of your gateway (I will explain this later on) and the users will be able to watch the video without making you any money (which is obviously bad).

Members can see the basic conversion method but this gets annoying so I had an automated script developed. You simply enter your video code and click convert and it will convert it into a code that you can then embed into your site. The produced code will not pop up in front of your gateway so no more lechers. Members can find a link to this script at the bottom of this post.

For paid members just paste the initial full code you get into the box it says to and then click convert and you will get the code you need instantly. No fuss, simple and easy.

Once you have the code in the post you will need to come up with a good title and some tags. The ones that never fail me are very simple it’s stupid. Yet people don’t use them! (Does this say something about the average webmaster?)

What you have to do is simple. Use the following titles. SHOW NAME - SEASON NUMBER EPISODE NUMBER - EPISODE NAME.

An example of this is Season 4 episode 16 of medium titled Drowned World.

This sort of title is extremely search engine friendly as this is the sort of thing that searchers seem to be searching for. This is why you ned to do the same to the tags. So in the box below where you write your wordpress post…. in the box named ’Tags’ enter the following. Series name,SxxExx,Episode Title.

So continuing my example my tags would be….

medium,s04e16,drowned world

This sort of setup delivers me hundreds of visits every day to each of my sites from search engines alone.

3. Add The Gateway Code

There are two main gateways used nowadays… Zango and CPALead. Zango seems to be slowly dieing as people are preferring the non-invasive, spyware free, survey option of CPALead. With zango users need to install a toolbar thing that screws up most PCs with it on it and any smart person WOULD NOT install this no matter what they will get access to… but ofcourse people do and thus why people can make some good money with Zango.

WIth CPALead users complete a survey to gain access to the page. Initially CPALead had much higher conversions but lately it seems lots of people are complaining about conversion rates after some new calculation system or something. These guys are just whingers…. from my previous experience with CPALead they are fine and I highly recommend them. I made 400 my first month but I hav since switched to a private gateway code that a guy I know is running. I can’t get anyone into this yet but maybe in the future…. it converts the best I have seen from any gateway code.

But anyway… You need to take the code you have been given by the gateway site and insert it just before </head>. This will ensure the code gets loaded as fast as possible. Once you have added this code the site should be ready to promote and make money off.

4. Post Your Links On SideReel

This is the most annoying bit of the whole method. This bit is what takes the time and is what you will spend 80% of your working online life if you take this method up and make it your money making method.

You need to create a Sidereel account. You might want to create a couple as one may be banned. None of mine have been banned but it has got to a point where admin wannabes just watch the links being posted on the shows I have just been to. They delete all my links instantly. These guys have no life and spend what they do have on sidereel trying to immitate and become an admin of which they never will be one and they will probably never get laid either so don’t stress to much about them. Just use another account.

Go to sidereel.com and create your account (s) and then go to TV Shows and find the TV show you did the episode for. Scroll down and click add an episode. Then fill out the details… your website, season number, episode number, and then link name. The basic link name format I use is the exact format I use for titles. SHOW NAME - SxxExx - EPISODE NAME. You can test to see what works for you but Adding stuff at the end of the episode name seems to work well. This like (Zango Free) or (Full Download) seem to work great for me. Just experiment and find your own custom stuff that works well.

You will need to keep an eye on your links as those idiots I was talking about earlier tend to delete links with gateway codes. Just read them. I suggest once every couple of days you go through all the links you have added and see what’s there and what isn’t. If you find something gone add it again. If its still up don’t bother.

5. Watch The Money Roll In

This is the best of the steps. You have to sit down and watch your stats. You will see them slowly grow and make you lots of money… and well… who doesn’t like a bit of cash?

There are a couple tricks I know that I thought I might share to you all.

The first is to post in unaired episodes. This delivers a lot of traffic but the links tend to be deleted pretty fast but the effort pays off nicely. This works because there wouldn’t be any other episodes in the unaired section.

Another trick I use is a way of complete spamming sidereel. Just go to any episode you like and enter the homepage URL of our site but add a / to the URL of each link you add. This will bypass the duplicate content filter and will just send them to your homepage. Very low conversion rates but it works. You can only use each link once in a show but as soon as you go to another show you can use the same link again. Really easy way to get traffic which means money

Like I said earlier this method is used a lot but I do hope you learnt a thing or two from reading my perspective of it. I have a couple added bonuses for paid members. I mean, I could give them away free… but then why would you pay? And to many of these floating around would make it pointless

The first of my bonuses is a COMPLETELY SETUP wordpress site database. Just delete the tables in a new wordpress install and import this database. You just need to go to options and change the URLs in it your site otherwise it will keep redirecting to my site. You can search and replace the database replacing my URL with yours… that might make it easier. The demo of this database can be seen at http://watchtelefree.info. This is one of my sites actively making me money every day. The database currently has 90 episodes and I will constantly add more as this will make me more money. All the videos are from the site that does not delete videos so the episodes will be there for ages.

The second of my bonuses is an almost ready for use .csv file to use with the database above. This csv is used with SideReel auto submitters to submit your links automatically. All you need to do is replace the username and password, and replace the website URL with yours. This is a simple 2 second process with notepad’s Find And Replace tool. You will either need to buy an autosubmitter or pay someone to submit this for you. It shouldn’t cost more than $5 to submit 100 links and this should easily make you $50+ over a couple days.
